This year Clear Horizon has been continuing to learn about the nexus between the growing practice of Design Thinking in social and environmental interventions with evaluative practice.

We’ve enjoyed pulling our own ideas as well as learning from others through the AES Special Interest Group on Design and Evaluation (the SIG). So far as part of the SIG we’ve held two webinars, one in which we set up a framework for understanding how evaluators (including Clear Horizon) are engaging with the world of Design Thinking and a second one which brings in the learnings and practice of leading Developmental Evaluator Mark Cabaj who has lots to share from his work in Canada. Our webinars are available on Clear Horizon’s YouTube channel.

Looking towards September, the SIG will be delivering two more webinars in the lead up to the AES Conference in Canberra. The next SIG Webinar (to delivered by Matt Healy from First Person Consulting) will be on using Human-Centred Design in evaluation, sign up here.

If you’re planning on coming to the AES Conference in Canberra you might be interested in signing up to the pre-conference workshop on Human-Centred Design for Evaluators, which will be delivered by Dr Jess Dart and Chris Vanstone from The Australian Centre of Social Innovation. Jess will also lead a panel discussion on Stepping out: Evaluators working as designers, more conference details are available here.
