Clear Horizon is widely known for conducting evaluation research and being at the very cutting edge of contemporary theory and practice with regard to monitoring and evaluation. In 2006, Clear Horizon won the Australasian Evaluation society award for developments in evaluation. Clear Horizon has a particular approach to evaluation, with an emphasis on the participation of program staff and other stakeholders in the process of evaluation. A common thread across all our work is our desire to build the capacity of our clients to do their own effective monitoring and evaluation and we believe in walking along side our clients on their evaluation journey. As part of this process, we often invite culturally appropriate data collection by participants themselves (after providing some initial training), to ensure ownership of the monitoring and evaluative information that is collected and act as mentors and coaches in the evaluation process.

While we strongly believe in tailoring our services in evaluation to meet the specific needs of our clients, generally speaking our approaches combine exploratory and in-depth techniques, participatory methods and take a strengths-based approach.
