Carina is enthusiastic and passionate about program design, monitoring and evaluation.  She has over 15 years of professional experience working from the practitioner level with grassroots community groups to working at State government policy level.   She understands the policy and project cycle and appreciates the role evaluation plays in this context.  Carina is the current Australasian Evaluation Society representative for Western Australia.

Carina was first introduced to the world of evaluation when she attended an evaluation course with Dr Jessica Dart in the late 1990’s.  Building on this course, she has studied research and evaluation at post graduate level and is currently completing an MSc in Evaluation. In addition, Carina has experience and qualifications in natural science with a BSc. (App Sci) and a Grad. Dip. (Env. Sci.).  Her qualifications and experience provide her with the ability to work across a range of specialist fields.

Carina’s evaluation experiences include designing and managing evaluations involving both qualitative and quantitative methods and in developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks. She has conducted numerous Project Evaluation and Project Cycle Management training sessions for both local and international participants, facilitated over 20 program logic workshops and worked with over 30 individual agricultural and Natural Resource Management projects to develop project designs and evaluation frameworks.

Before joining the Clear Horizon team as the Managing Director for the Western Australian branch, Carina was consulting privately.  Her previous experience in the WA State Government included 12 years in Natural Resource Management and agriculture working as a Landcare Support Officer, Project Manager, State NRM Monitoring and Evaluation Manager and as a Senior Policy Officer and Acting/Program Manager.  She brings with her an extensive professional network and a strong list of clients from across government and university institutions.

Carina’s goal is to demystify evaluation and show how practical monitoring and evaluation can be valuable in every day project management.
