Open Space technology is a large group process designed to allow groups to take control of their own agenda and come to a series of actions. It’s an amazingly powerful technique! It was developed by US Management Consultant Harrison Owen in the 1980s. The theory behind open space technology is that people will take ownership of issues they wish to address.

The open space technology operates on the following four principles:

  1. Whoever comes are the right people.
  2. Whatever happens is the only thing that could have.
  3. Whenever it starts is the right time.
  4. When it’s over, it’s over.

Open Space Technology at Clear Horizon

Jess, Tracey and Natalie facilitate open space technology. Most of us also tend to slip some aspects of Open Space Technology into our workshops, it’s especially good for action planning towards the end of a workshop.
