Blending features of the Significant Change (MSC) and ‘Appreciative Inquiry’, the evaluation summit technique is characterised by the inclusion of a large group workshop process in which a range of stakeholders and implementers are encouraged to participate. Going beyond merely consulting stakeholders, the evaluation summit workshop sees stakeholders analysing transcripts and synthesising key outcomes. This technique was developed by Jess Dart from Clear Horizon and has been employed in a variety of contexts, with external consultants playing the role of the facilitator. The evaluation summit is one part of the process used in ‘participatory performance story reporting’, but can also be used to synthesise findings for any participatory evaluation process.
